XOTIC SG-NR1 .009 Nickel plated roundwound strings from pedaler.eu
I’ve been playing pro, sometimes semi, for the last more than 20 years and, thus, must have changed strings app. a thousand times. Whoa, to think what that amounts to moneywise… The price of a new Ford KA maybe? – In that case I’m glad I spent it on strings….
These XOTIC strings (priced at 11.84 EURO) kick ass compared to much more expensive strings. I tested them on an american standard strat plugged into to an old fender combo (my marshall is elsewhere). It’s a .009 set but, believe me, the 3 wound strings sound like they come from a heavier set, maybe .011. After several hours of playing, the set still sounds crispy and full. It’s like the strings have extra metal in them, and they certainly have a different feel to them. Actually there’s a nice little bonus character to them, as they breathe now life into the 5th (neck) pickup position – give it a jazzy twist. I strongly recommend this set.
