The Purple Nurple is capable of quite a few things.

At low volumes it can be used as a mild fuzz pedal.

With an amp on the verge on breaking up, it can be used as a clean boost or use the GAIN knob to dial in more grit.

Think of the Purple Nurple as an enhancement to a tube amp that is on the verge of or breaking up on its own.
